Hey, fellow pet lovers!
Today’s post is all about the upcoming year and the wonderful opportunities that lay ahead. Personally, I love starting a new year the planning, preparation and the many possibilities that come with a potential new start is just so exciting! I have a huge to-do for epoch.pet for 2020 and many personal goals that I hope to achieve also and in today’s post, I want to talk a little more about what these are?
Let’s up straight into today’s post!
Happy New Year 🥳
So tomorrow will be the very first day of 2020 and I hope you are all feeling optimistic about the upcoming year. I have a very busy month ahead with two exams and an essay due in, I’m certainly feeling the pressure but I’m glad to be starting the year; with a productive attitude and a positive mindset. Thankfully, I’ve had some much-needed time off to spend with the girls and my partner over Christmas but it’s now time to get back to work…how does time go so fast? I really hope you and your canine or feline friend had a lovely Christmas break as it’s time to move on into a new decade.
The girls, my partner and I plan to kick the new year off in a nice relaxing way, with a lovely stroll along the seafront and then get home and have a lovely night in together. Spending more quality time with family and friends is something I plan to focus a lot more on next year. However, no matter what you’re doing this new year and new year’s eve, make sure you spend it with the people you love!
2020
A whole new year is so close but I want to start off by saying how great of the year 2019 has been for epoch.pet. The number of monthly visitors and views just keeps increasing, despite not spending a penny on advertising this year and decreasing the amount of time I spend on the blog. As well as this our social following is slowly but surely growing and I feel my hard work may be paying off. Some of you might remember if you are a frequent visitor to epoch.pet that I decided this year to decrease my blog posts due to start university back in September. All of the craziness over the last few months, unfortunately, resulted in me losing my blogging consistency for a few months, but thankfully, epoch.pet has managed to grow organically despite this.
I know the blog has a long way to go but the confidence it has given me since going live has been invaluable. Thinking back to when I was dreaming about publishing epoch.pet, the journey I’ve had so far and the hectic planning and preparation stage prior to going live. It is safe to say its been one hell of journey and the nostalgia is bittersweet. I’m not kidding when I say this little blog has really helped shape my character, I’ve been to many inspiring events, pushed myself out of my comfort zone, registered as self-employed and met some truly inspiring people along the way. All because I decided to start a little pet wellness and nutrition blog as a hobby back in April 2018.
Moving away from the nostalgia its time to settle back into the present moment and I now feel like my to-do list for epoch.pet continues to grow, but the time I have to dedicate to blogging is ever so slowly decreasing. Which is why time management is another essential component of 2020 that I want to really focus on, alongside creating a solid routine that promotes productivity and gives me enough time to dedicate towards my passion of blogging. In fact, I hope to go live with a second blog next year if I somehow find the time to finish working on it and publish it. This blog will be very different from epoch.pet as I’d love to create a more personal blog where I write about a myriad of topics such as blogging and my journey, my studies and the many struggles that come with being a student, classics and philosophy with an emphasis on Stoicism and lots more…so stick around as I hope to go live with that in the middle to late months of next year.
2020 Goals for epoch.pet

Update The Sites Layout
First on the list is updating the website, this is something I’ve been needing to do for quite some time now but as I’ve mentioned many times in the previous posts, I simply haven’t had the time. However, my plan is to do a little updating each month and by doing this I hope that this time next year epoch.pet’s About Page and others will be more relevant.
Update The Content on epoch.pet 🐾
Secondly, once I’ve got round to updating the site layout, then epoch.pet’s content pages are next on the list. If you are a blogger who doesn’t really know about coding like myself and have managed to create a site with the help of a WordPress theme; then you’ll understand my concerns with this task. I may end up paying someone on Fivver or a freelance site to help with the whole process but we’re a little while away from this step thankfully. However, I want a clean and fresh looking site that has a few different tools on like a raw food calculator for anyone wanting to work out how to feed their pet on a raw diet. I also hope to integrate epoch.pet’s social accounts onto our homepage and maybe get some video content up on our About Page.
Increase epoch.pet’s Social Following
As I mentioned earlier in the post, the blog has been doing wonderfully and we have over 500 likes on Facebook and various more followers on our Twitter and Instagram accounts. Also, if you’re a blogger and haven’t checked out this wonderful platform call Camooni then I highly recommend heading over there. I’ve been a member since I first went live with epoch.pet and it’s a great platform for bloggers, creators and creatives to all share their content from various platforms worldwide. It’s helped create a lot of traffic for epoch.pet and I really love it!
Create Merchandise👚 T-shirts 👕 & Socks 🧦
I’ve wanted to create a T-Shirt for epoch.pet for ages now and it is high on the list of things to get down next year. I plan to sell them on the site but I’m also thinking about creating a limited edition T-shirt which once there gone, that’s it. These are the main aims I have for epoch.pet in the upcoming year. I know I’ve been saying I need to update the site for almost a year now but honestly, I just haven’t found the time to do so. Thankfully, next Summer once I’ve completed my first year of university I will have a lot more time to devote to maintaining and updating epoch.pet.
Top Ten Posts of 2019

We now have 130 blog posts on epoch.pet once today’s post has been published and it is safe to say that some are a lot better than others, but we all have to start somewhere right? Below I’ve listed a few favourites from this year and also the highest-rated post which is one of our original posts from 2018.
- How to hand strip a Border Terrier.
- Pets aren’t just for Christmas; they’re for life!
- What it’s like to own a Border Terrier?
- A Brief History of the Pet Food Industry, part one.
- Homemade Dehydrated Chicken Hearts.
- Homemade Paw Balm.
- The Lowdown on Raw Green Tripe, raw feeding information.
- AniForte’s BARF Complete Supplement Review.
- Xdog Weight and Fitness Vest, product review.
- Durham Animal Feeds, Raw Food Review.
This list is just a small fraction of the informative information that we have on offer at epoch.pet. My sole purpose with this blog is to help pet parents be the best they possibly can and help to strengthen the bond between pet owner and pet. I think our mission statement gets the point across quite well.
We should all commit ourselves to the highest level of care we are able to provide for our companion animals, as they look to us for all of their needs and their health and wellbeing is in our hands. Being fit and healthy improves the quality of your experience of life, and the same can be said for our four-legged companions.
epoch.pet’s purpose is to enrich this experience and to create an even stronger bond between you and your pet by optimising the time you spend together through play, fitness and nutrition, all whilst pushing the boundaries of the standard of care. I want to create a blog where people feel like they are in a community that all shares one thing, never-ending love for our four-legged companions. Whether you own a cat or a dog or both like myself, you’re welcome to be a part of epoch.pet.
Quick Reminder; Fireworks 🧨

Fireworks on New Year’s Eve may cause our pets some distress and therefore you should take any necessary precautions to help your canine or feline friend if they suffer. Thankfully, all my girls are fine with fireworks and have been from day one, but I am well aware that most pets become highly anxious and frightened. I’ve written a post that talks all about how we can help pets who suffer from anxiety and distress during firework seasons.
If your canine or feline friend is one of these unfortunate souls then check it out after today’s post; Bonfire Night, fireworks, frightened pets and how we can help?
Thanks for reading today’s post and I hope you all have a wonderful start to 2020. I am really excited to see what the new year has in store for epoch.pet as I’m sure it is going to be an amazing one. If you have any post suggestions or questions about epoch.pet then be sure to get in touch with me via our contact page and I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible. I really love hearing from you guys so please do get in touch.
Lastly, I just want to thank each and every one of you guys who turn up to read our monthly content. I literally keep epoch.pet up and running with no help from anyone else and there have been many a time where I’ve thought about chucking the towel in and giving up, but with the blog getting about 400 visitors a month now. So I’m glad I managed to stick out the difficult times and I hope I can create some really helpful content for pet parents next year and also help with some charity work if possible. But without the help of all you wonderful epoch.pet followers, I wouldn’t be able to achieve anything so thank you all so, so much and have an amazing new year! 🙏
