Hey, fellow pet lovers!
This week post is a super short and simple one, in which I’m going to briefly talk about why I haven’t posted lately and what I’ve been up to? If you’re a frequent visitor to epoch.pet then you’ll most likely have realised that I haven’t posted in just over a whole month, which really isn’t like myself.
So let’s jump straight into today’s post to find out why?
Life is Currently Crazy…

The last few weeks have been really chaotic for me due to a variety of reasons that I’ll talk in more detail about below but if you’re a frequent visitors or subscriber to epoch.pet then you would have realised lately, that I simply haven’t been posting. For someone who managed to keep up a consistent streak of writing and publishing blog posts for over a year and a half and even through some difficult times, it’s really frustrating that I haven’t been able to maintain my weekly blogging responsibilities.
However, this week I’ve managed to carve out a little time to sit back and get some words written, not that it’s been easy to do so. To be honest, I’ve never felt so all over the place, it’s safe to say that life is incredibly crazy at the minute and it’s only going to continue to get busier as the months go on.A big distraction from writing currently is that I’ve never felt like I’ve been juggling so many things at once, which is why I’m going to spend today’s short, yet essential post talking about what’s been keeping me away from my keyboard and hopefully get back into my blogging stride.
If you subscribe to epoch.pet then you will already know that I started university last month and this is definitely the main culprit. As well as this massive change though, the horrible English weather has been creeping in and as I write its cold, rainy and wet outside. Not really the best time to write about the lovely walks that the girls and I have been on out on right?? Blogging has been put on the back seat the last few weeks due to how hectic everything has been but I’m definitely back, just maybe with a more realistic approach as to how many posts I can publish each month.
So why haven’t I been posting then?
Reason One: I’ve recently started university π©βπ

The main reason I haven’t been posting as much as usual, is that last month on the 23rd I started a combined honours degree at Newcastle University and this has been a massive change as you can imagine. Not only has it affected my whole routine, I no longer have as much time to dedicate towards epoch.pet and do all the things I need/want to do to the blog. If you’re a fellow blogger then you will know just how important consistency really is and starting university has had a massive knock-on effect to my blogging consistency, that its time to get back to it. If only it was as easy as that though, simply finding the time to sit down and write is proving to be a bit difficult as I’m currently juggling three different subjects on my degree, which is taking up a lot of time. Initially, I was only going to study business alongside philosophy but I’ve ended up taking classics also, due to timetable clashes.
This spontaneous decision has meant a lot more of my time needs to be directed towards studying, reading and learning all about Greek history and society and there’s a lot to take in… As well as learning about ancient Greek society, I’m also doing two business modules, one focusing on marketing which will come in useful for epoch.pet, and the other is all about management and organisation. Thankfully, I studied business in college for two years so I’m finding it a bit easy than my classics module.
Lastly, I’m taking two philosophy modules, the first is by far the most interesting and is called existentialism and the self. The second could be considered a little drier but is still super intriguing and is about philosophical traditions. However, splitting my time between three subjects, one which I had no intention of studying in the first place; classics, is proving to be slightly difficult! There is simply so much reading to be done, that the last few weeks I’ve been in a constant state of feeling being behind in my studies. Which is why the idea of blogging, devoting my time to something other than my studies has felt really wrong. But I’m slowly realising as I get into the flow and words start to fill the page, I can see that blogging is essential. It can provide me with some much need downtime and even help me to find that purposeful hobby we all strive to discover.
Reason Two: I’ve been learning to ride a motorbike π

Another reason I haven’t found the time to publish lately, especially last week is that myself and my other half have been learning how to ride a motorbike and we finally completed our CBT (compulsory basic training) last Tuesday. This was actually one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, firstly, going out on the road was insane! I’d been out a few times before on my partners’ bike learning the very basics but that was on private property, with no cars or pedestrians heading my way. Thankfully, we had an amazing instructor who helped to calm my nerves and guided us the whole time we were out on the road. Next year I’m planning on getting a little Mutt Hilts to travel to and from my university on and if you use public transport, especially during rush hour you’ll understand why I plan I to do so.
Reason Three: I need to create a new blogging routine!

Another reason which I’ve briefly touched on above is the fact that my normal routine which I’ve had for the last few years now has completely changed. I no longer have as many days to sit and write my weekly posts or plan my content, which has resulted in my creativity plummeting. A big task on my to-do list is to recreate my weekly routine and find the best times I can fit blogging into my schedule.
With everything being so chaotic lately, I actually think I need to decrease my blog posts to once every fortnight as this is a realistic goal. But there are just so many new things that I need to add into my routine like essential reading for my studies, writing, exercise and so much more… I think I can say that until I manage to create a solid routine and find the time to write my monthly posts, everything is going to feel a little disorganised. Yet despite my lack of creativity lately, there’s no denying that I’m really excited to see where the next few months take me, as there are so many beneficial things that I need to add into my routine; that if all goes to plan when Christmas arrives I should be feeling a lot more grounded in my studies, blogging and general life.
Reason Four: Writer’s Block π

Writer’s block, that term that you either know or don’t and unfortunately for me, the last month has been a constant wall of writer’s block that I haven’t managed to demolish. I’m not kidding when I say this weekend was my first real success when it comes to writing in a little while but it was still difficult to get started. I simply think I have so much going on that the sheer amount of distractions are holding me back from getting into writing, but I know well above anything that consistency is key. This is why I’ve decided to decrease my blog posts to two a month, once every fortnight, maybe three posts a month depending on what’s going on.
Starting from today though I’m going to try and keep a constant streak of two decent posts a month as blogging is a hobby not a chore that I need to do, it’s something that I choose to do and you could even say, that when I’m in the flow its a relaxation and this is what I’ve managed to forget the last month, making everything a little harder! One last thing I want to mention in today’s post is all about Halloween which is taking place this Thursday, I’m going to try my best to get an additional post published so stick around for that as I’m hoping to create some pet friendly Halloween treats for the girls but I haven’t decided yet on what recipe I want to attempt, any suggestions are more than welcome.
I hope you all enjoyed today’s post despite it not being about our usual topic of pet wellness and nutrition, however, I really felt like I had to let my readers know why I haven’t been able to post lately. With Halloween taking place this week I’m going to attempt to make some pet-friendly treats that your four-legged friends will love, so stick around for that. Even though I haven’t posted this month yet epoch.pet’s stats have been booming, so a massive thank you to each and every one of our subscribers and pet parent’s who read our monthly content, you guys are amazing and I really appreciate all the support! π
