How I make my pet treats using the Excalibur Dehydrator? Product review.

Hey, fellow pet lovers!

I hope you and your lovely pets are dealing with this cold and windy weather well, I’m feeling pretty ill at the minute and have an awful chesty cough, so a nice relaxing day in bed with my girls is a must.

Today’s post is fairly short and may seem a little off topic at first glance, but the truth is my Excalibur nine-tray dehydrator is one of the best and most used products in my house for my girls. In fact, almost all my homemade treat recipes use my dehydrator, bar my two frozen bone recipes which if you haven’t guessed just require a freezer.

Let’s jump straight in and learn what I love so much about my Excalibur Dehydrator!

Excalibur Dehydrator

Christmas is coming up and you really don’t have much time left to get your friends, family and furry friend their perfect gift. I bought our dehydrator back in 2016 just before I left university and have used it constantly ever since.

I love how versatile it is and you can literally make anything, I only really use it for the girl’s treats but I’m curious about making some fruit leathers or some dehydrated camping food for next years adventures.

What I love about my Excalibur Dehydrator?

  • You can make your pet their own homemade treats.

One of my favourite things to do is to make my girls their own batch of treats with my dehydrator, it really couldn’t get any easier. As most of you will already know all my girls are fed a species appropriate diet and I make all their treats at home to ensure there are no nasties in them like most mass-produced treats contain.

Below you will find some of my favourite treat recipes that I have posted on the blog so far, why not treat your pooch or pooss and make them their very own batch of homemade treats for Christmas?

  1. Dehydrated Chicken Hearts.

These simple but delicious dehydrated chicken hearts are so easy to make and my girl Lily loves them!! Unfortunately, Nia cannot have chicken since we found out it is a potential allergen after getting her Easy DNA Allergy test results back a few months ago.

However, if your pet is a chicken lover like my little Lily then definitely give these yummy treats a go!!

  1. Dehydrated Turkey Jerky.

I love making my girls jerky, even though our jerky gun can be a right pain to use!!

These treats went down perfectly and again were pretty simple to make like all the homemade treat recipes on the blog. You could use any meat you wanted really, beef, chicken or pork and add some extra ingredients in to make your pets treats that little bit more exciting.

To learn how to make your pet these tasty turkey jerky treats simply follow the full link above.

I have some exciting flavour combos heading your way in the next few weeks to get our pets in the Christmas spirit.

  1. Dehydrated Lamb Treats.

My girls love Lamb ❤

These treats were again super easy to make and even the Pooss came to inspect they smelt that good. All my girls love lamb but Lily especially and unfortunately, Nia can only eat it in moderation as it is another potential allergen for her.

These treats are made using lamb tongues which are a super cheap cut and all you have to do is trim off any excess fat, thinly slice, then stick them in the dehydrator and wait till they’re done. To read the full recipe simply follow the link above.

These are just a few of the many treats I have made on the blog and if you want to see our other great recipes then simply search for homemade treats in the search bar.

  • You can make your own camping food for your adventures.

I’m not sure how many of you guys love the outdoors but myself, my partner and my girls certainly do!! Unfortunately, we haven’t managed to go camping this year as we have been super busy and next year is only going to be even crazier as I have some exciting announcements heading your way in the new year.

But if you do love camping and go frequently, then a dehydrator is a great addition to your life as you can make all your own camping meals, nutritious jerky for you and your pooch, as well as so much more.

  • It is super durable.

I have used my dehydrator for almost two years now and not once have I had an issue, the Excalibur dehydrator is made using high-quality materials and should last a long time if used correctly and maintained well.

  • It has a 48-hour timer.

One thing that I really love about my dehydrator is that it has a 48-hour timer that you can set and then get on with your daily tasks and forget about your furry friends treats. Not all Excalibur dehydrators have a 48-hour timer but most have a 24 hour which, to be honest, is more than long enough.

  • You can make your own Christmas decorations.

The last thing I want to mention is that this year I plan on making my own homemade Christmas decorations using fruit such as oranges, grapefruits and adding cinnamon sticks, cranberries and other pretty additions to string to make our tree look extra pretty.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a picture to add in above but most of you will know what I’m talking about and if not then you will just have to wait until next week when I post a picture of our finished tree.
