Yogurt and Blueberry Frozen Bones

Hey, fellow pet lovers!
Today’s post is a short and simple treat recipe that will take you seconds to prepare, today we will be making some yoghurt and blueberry frozen bones for your canine companion. My girls love yogurt and go crazy for anything with it in, so these frozen bones went down a treat.
It’s been a little while since I’ve posted a homemade treat recipe and I wanted to make the girl’s something quick and easy the other day, so came up with this simple yoghurt and blueberry frozen bones recipe.
I know the weather isn’t really suited to frozen treats right now but with the heating on full blast and the girls all cosy they seem to go down just fine!
What you need to make these easy yoghurt and blueberry frozen bones?

- Yoghurt or kefir, preferably goats as cows yoghurt isn’t easily digestible for our canine friends due to A1 casein.
- Fruit of your choice, low sugar dog-friendly berries are best, I opted for blueberries because my girls love them, they are packed full of nutrition, and they make these treats look extra pretty.
- Moulds, now you don’t have to use bone-shaped moulds, you could use any shape you wanted, and there are so many to choose.
- A freezer, to stick your frozen treats in.
Step One, Get The Moulds Ready
The first thing to do is to choose what shaped mould you want to use for your frozen treats, your options are endless really but I opted for my trusted bone shaped moulds which I really love!
I found it was much easier if I cleared a draw from the freezer and stuck my bone moulds on the bottom of the draw, so I didn’t have to keep picking the moulds up as that would result in my mixture spilling. When you need to add your fruit and yogurt layer simply lift your draw out, do so, then stick it back in with very little fuss.
Step Two, Layer Fruit On The Bottom

The next thing to do is to layer your chosen fruit mixture on the bottom of your mould, I opted for blueberries because they are a favourite in my household and I like the dark purple colour they give these treats.
However, you could use a mixture of different berries like:
- Strawberries
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
What I would suggest is getting a pack of frozen berries and sticking them in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes as this helps them turn to puree and gives your treats a nicer consistency, as well as appearance.
Once you have defrosted your fruit simply layer a small amount in the bottom of each mould and place in the freezer for an hour or two until set.
Step Three, Layer The Yoghurt

I love yoghurt and in fact, everyone apart from the Pooss in my house does!
Once your fruit base has set it is time to layer your yogurt on top, simply start by adding a spoon or two then smoothing it out until your mould is filled with yogurt.
Once you have added yogurt to all your filled moulds then simply stick your treats back in the freezer and wait until they are fully frozen. I just left mine in overnight but if you start early in the morning, then I’m sure they will be done for later on in the day.
Step Four, Place Treats In Freezer
The girls were so angry that they had to wait for me to take photos but they got some treats in the end. These are some of my favourites treats I’ve made so far for the girls, they are so simple and I will definitely be giving them another go and experimenting with different flavour combos.
