Recap on why I started epoch.pet

Hey, fellow pet lovers!!

Yesterday was three months since epoch.pet first went live and I thought it would be a nice change to write more of a personal post that recaps on why I started epoch.pet and the goals I hope to achieve with this blog.

If you’ve been here from day one then you will already know some of the reasons as to why I started this blog and where I hope it might go. The truth is there are many reasons as to why I started epoch.pet and below I am going to list them all, I hope you all like the change of topic this week and do let me know what you all thought in the comments below.

Let’s jump straight in and understand why epoch.pet all started!!

I love looking at our logo, you won’t believe how hard of a choice it was as I had to pick out of many well-designed logos. However, I think epoch.pet’s logo captures what we’re all about which is love for our pets, unconditional love that cannot be broken.

• I love my girls and our amazing furry family!!

I love this picture above, we had such a lovely time at the park that day and it is one of my favourite places to go in the whole world. My girls are a massive reason behind epoch.pet and my aim is to give them the best life possible by enhancing each and every day for them in some way or another.

Our pets really aren’t with us for a very long time and this is something that sticks in my mind daily. epoch.pet allows me to do the best I can for my girls by finding great pet products to enhance their lives, learning about nutrition and so much more. As well as doing all this for Nia, Lily and the Pooss I hope to benefit your pets life in one way or another too and I am amazed at how many pet parents have liked and shared our posts so far.

You guys are amazing!!

• I want to provide pet owners with great pet information.

One of the most important goals of epoch.pet is to provide you guys with great information that will help you benefit your pets for the better. Whether that be searching for great pet products to review or writing an informative post, I hope to provide everyone with great information that really has a positive effect on your pets lives.

This post will be the 27th post which is crazy, time is going so fast!!

I still have a long way to go with improving my writing skills but so far I am proud of the fact that I have been able to keep up my weekly posts and I hope you guys haven’t found too many errors. The point isn’t to be a perfect writer though, I hope I will get there one day but the most important aspect of epoch.pet is providing pet owners with decent content.

We have a wide range of posts out so far and have talked about various topics such as raw feeding, The Dangerous Dogs Act and Breed Specific legislation within the UK, product reviews, informative posts such as Can dogs eat raw meat? and The Benefits of Feeding a BARF or PMR diet, as well as lots more. Personally, I have loved doing our treat recipes and our Homemade paw balm posts the most. I think the more creative the post is the more I enjoy it but I do also love writing about raw feeding and informing you guys on how we can try to do the best for our furry friends.

So the second reason behind epoch.pet is to give you guys great information that will help you enhance your pets life for the better. 

• Make being a pet parent easier.

From day one I knew I wanted to make being a pet parent easier and eliminate the need to search the web for great pet products. On epoch.pet I review any product that I think is great and that will benefit your furry friend. I hope to make your lives easier by having a blog where you know you can get honest, trustworthy reviews. I would never put something on the blog that I didn’t think was good or would not benefit your pet in some way or another. Every product we have reviewed has been something that my girls have tried and tested for a month or so before I stick it on the blog.

We have done many product reviews so far such as

• KONG Wobbler Treat Dispensing Dog Toy, product review.
• Catit Senses Grass Planter, product review.
• AniForte’s BARF Complete Supplement Review.
• Natural Instinct Beef and Chicken Complete, Raw Food Review.
• Catit water fountain, product review.

As well as lots more, I love finding great pet products to review and promoting ethical businesses within the pet industry.

• I hope to make a positive change through epoch.pet!

Something I thought about a lot before going live with epoch.pet was that I could help towards campaigning for a positive change in relation to Breed Specific Legislation and other controversial topics that affect pet owners as well as their pets. If you haven’t checked out our post on The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and Breed Specific Legislation within the UK then head over there after reading this.

With epoch.pet slowly growing each week, my audience to help make a positive change is constantly increasing and that is something I love about blogging!! If I write a post about something that needs to be talked about the possibilities are endless and we pet owners could actually make a positive difference just by liking and sharing a post. There are so many more things to talk about and I really like writing about controversial topics because I get really emotional about it and I hope that comes through in my writing.

Together we can make a beneficial change no matter what the issue!

• Raise awareness about raw feeding.

A massive reason behind epoch.pet is to promote natural feeding methods such as BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Feeding or Bones and Raw Food) or Prey Model Raw (PMR) diets. All my girls have been raw fed from the moment we got them and this is a massive driving force for the blog.

I have written various raw feeding posts such as

• Can dogs eat raw meat?
• Honey’s Natural Feeding Handbook for Dogs, Book Review.

I love feeding my girls a species appropriate diet that I know is going to keep them strong and healthy. Watching so many of our innocent pets suffering today because they are eating the equivalent of fast food day in and day out is truly heartbreaking!! So with epoch.pet I hope to show pet owners that switching their furry friends onto a raw diet is by far the best approach you can take for ensuring your dog or cat lives a long and healthy life, free from illness.

Spread the word about natural feeding methods such as BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Feeding or Bones and Raw Food) or Prey Model Raw (PMR) diets.

• Spend more time with my girls and hopefully become a successful full-time blogger.

Leaving university was one of the scariest things I ever did, my head still thinks where would I be if I hadn’t left but If I hadn’t left I highly doubt epoch.pet would even be here.

For those of you that haven’t read the About my blog section then you will be thinking what is she on about? Well in 2015 I started a degree in Real Estate at Northumbria University, it was fun and challenging as I had to quickly push past my comfort zone but my heart just wasn’t in it and after completing a year I decided to take a year out and have a think about my future career options. When the summer of 2016 came around I had to decide whether I wanted to go back to my studies and pursue a career in Real Estate and eventually become a Charted Surveyor, or if I wanted to leave my studies and pursue another route. However, I made the decision to withdraw from the university as I already had the start of epoch.pet brewing inside my head.

Thinking back it was a crazy decision to leave my studies and not pursue the career that from a young age I thought I wanted to do. However, I think we can all agree that life really doesn’t go the way we think it will most of the time. This week has been quite a monumental one for me as I have just registered as self-employed and hope that I am able to make it as a full-time blogger. I want to create epoch.pet into a strong brand that pet owners love and trust to provide them with great information to help them provide their pets with an AMAZING life!

Another reason I want to become a full-time blogger is so I can spend way more time with my girls. I couldn’t imagine anything that would make me happier than earning a living while benefiting my girls as well as other people’s pets. I have a year to see where epoch.pet ends up as next summer I might start a degree in philosophy but it all depends on where this blog goes?

• Strengthen the bond between you and your pet.

Another huge aim behind epoch.pet is to help strengthen the bond between you and your pet by providing you guys with great pet information and beneficial pet products to help enhance your pet’s life during the short time they are with us.

I want to create a blog where you can come and know you are going to find something that is really going to have a positive effect on your pets life, whether that be changing them onto a raw diet, ordering a great pet product we have reviewed or just learning more information about our canine and feline friends.

• Create a community of pet lovers!

From day one I wanted to create a community of pet lovers that all share one thing, never-ending love for our pets. I remember the first day we went live and only had about 20 likes or so on our Facebook page, such a small number but I was over the moon. This week we have just reached over 400 likes and I am amazed at all the support and love you guys have given me on my blogging journey so far.

I am truly grateful to have such amazing pet parents coming to epoch.pet!

The last few months have been pretty hard for me but this blog has got me through a lot and I am really happy I decided to pursue blogging as a career and am looking forward to seeing where epoch.pet ends up.
